A window on France: 1964 to 1978 70 hours - Pathé collection
Chroniques de France is a series of documentaries produced by France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at giving other nations a comprehensive overview of French society.
This collection brings together short reports – from about 6 to 13 minutes in length – on every aspect of France's regional, cultural and artistic life during the 1964-1978 period. The films invite viewers on set with Jean-Pierre Melville and Claude Sautet, feature complete performances by various singers, and cover topics ranging from fashion to the Comédie Française and the Champs Elysées.
Directors commissioned for the Chroniques de France series include Maurice Pialat, Georges Franju, Agnès Varda and Denise Glaser.
