The AED was founded in 1991 on the eve of the Rio Earth Summit. The agency produces GAIA, a programme dedicated to sustainable development issues, which has been broadcast on France’s La Cinquième channel since 1995 and is marketed by GP archives .

This collection comprises 200 (26- and 52-minute) episodes that cover such worldwide issues as wildlife, biodiversity, agriculture, waste recycling, industrial risks, water and energy .
